In her comments about Scooter, Anne referred to the directions for specific projects in which Elena becomes involved. The Sulman Family discovered accurate directions for these activities. Vera Williams does not mislead her young readers. She encourages activity and inspires creativity. How can readers of Scooter miss her encouragement to play with words? Do the children you know become involved with word play after seeing/reading/hearing Scooter? How young? How old?
More on writing: Stringbean's Trip to the Shining Sea. Postcard narratives developing plot, characters, and more. Original designs for postage stamps. Your observations, please - about Scooter? about Stringbean's Trip... ? about children's responses to either book? Their ages? ... Ginny
