Let's spend the month of May with Vera B. Williams' books! As I glance at the hands-on display of her books created by Katy Horning for the CCBC, I want to talk about each of them, all of them, all at once. I'm reminded of the colors she uses and the ways she uses colors. She literally and figuratively brings colors to her words. She imagines new ways to incorporate words and colors into the overall page design. She creates stories about intergenerational families and individual creativity, picturing self-reliant children, adults who are tired after a day's work and images of neighborhoods that work as communities.
Which of her books are especially successful from your perspective? In your experience as a teacher? As a critic? As a parent or caregiver?
