Her Stories retold and written by Virginia Hamilton is the winner of the 1996 Image Award for Children's Books. Her Stories: African American Folktales, Fairy Tales, and True Tales was illustrated by Leo and Diane Dillon and published by Blue Sky Press / Scholastic Books in 1995.
This particular Image Award is one of many announced last week at a major event hosted in Hollywood, California, by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
