Announcing a Beginning Writer's Retreat, "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Writing for Children...But Were Afriad to Ask!" sponsored by SCBWI-WI to be held at St. Norbert Abbey on April 26(, 1996 in DePere, Wisconsin. The weekend will feature three Wisconsin authors, Sheri Cooper Sinykin, Judith Logan Lehne, and Patricia Curtis Pfitsch plus author/illustrator Gretchen Will Mayo who will join forces to walk participants through the rough road of breaking into print.

Designed for writers new to the field or not yet published, it will offer sectionals on publishing secrets, where ideas come from, characterization, plotting, creating the picture book, revision and the magazine market. Participants can register for an optional manuscript or portfolio critique with a faculty member for an additional $30 fee. There will also be time set aside for peer critiquing, rewriting, and perusing the latest writing-related books and materials for sale Saturday afternoon.
