I forward some of the CCBC email to my closest friend from highschool, who taught "young adults" in Vermont for many years, and is now running a program with her husband, a former Dartmouth African Studies professor, at Cambridge University in England. Their program, funded by a US philanthropy, enables
"middle managers" from government agencies in Africa and Eastern Europe to spend a semester strategizing ways to foster economic and educational growth in their developing countries. She in turn shared much of the discussion re:
_Damned Strong Love_ with this spring semester's participants. They were fascinated by the editorial process and by North American interest in
"foreign" books. The _Damned Strong Love_ discussion gave them insights into areas of development they had not been exposed to, so they send thanks to all who participated so freely in those discussions. One never knows where those comments can lead!
