April SCBWI Workshop in Eau Claire

A SCBWI-WI WORKSHOP ON: April 20, 1996, Eau Claire WI CREATING STORIES with Marion Dane Bauer - Award winning Minnesota Author. Sponsored by the Society of Children's Book Writer's & Illustrators of Wisconsin and the Eau Claire Reading Council
This workshop will begin with registration at 8 a.m. April 20 at the Quality Inn., 809 W. Clairemont, Ave., Eau Claire. (715) 834f11. It is designed for writers and those who teach writing. The workshop will focus on the essential steps of writing fiction: defining story, considering theme, developing characters, and planning a plot.
Participants will have the basis to write a story or to revise one you have already written by the end of the morning session.

Marion Dane Bauer is author of more than 15 books for young readers. She has won numerous awards, including a Jane Addams Peace Association Award for her novel "Rain of Fire" and an American Library Association Newberry Honor Medal for another novel, "On My Honor." Her books have been translated into a dozen languages. Her most recent publications are a picture book, "When I Go Camping With Grandma" and an inspirational autobiography "A Writer's Story, From Life to Fiction." Her first easy reader "Alison's Wings" (hyperion) will be out this spring. She has also written "What's Your Story?" an instructional writing book for young people.
