received ALPHABET CITY and used it with children, and we were all quite impressed.
To me the book was distinguished from the title page on, and when I pointed out the beauty of the title page, simple though it is, the children agreed with me. (They are an agreeable group I must admit.)
We enjoyed figuring out what each letter really was, and we found many of the pages absolutely stunning. I have always loved good photography such as that of Tana Hoban, but this book really knocks me out; I think it is special.
