Happy New Year!
Thanks to everyone who provided end-of-the-year book recommendations during December. We hope these were helpful in one or more ways for you.
If you recently joined the CCBC-NET community, you may be interested in looking at some of the earlier CCBC-NET book discussions during 1995: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech (July); The Haunting and The Changeover, both by Margaret Mahy (August); Scorpions and Fallen Angels, both by Walter Dean Myers (September); The Well by Mildred Taylor (October); and The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman (November). The "welcome" message you received at the time you subscribed to CCBC-NET includes directions for retrieving files from the CCBC-NET archives. Our CCBC-NET colleague Chris Dowling periodically sends everyone a reminder of some of the commands available to CCBC-NET subscribers; this one will be among the commands about which he'll remind you occasionally.
The number of CCBC-NET subscribers has increased dramatically, almost doubling each month. You tell us that you appreciate the quality and substance of CCBC-NET comments; the low-key, friendly, civil atmosphere; the fact that you are not flooded with messages each day or week, but that the comments are worth reading; that CCBC-NET makes a unique contribution; and that even if you don't respond directly to CCBC-NET messages, you are discussing many CCBC-NET comments with each other and with others who are not yet subscribers. Good!
Does the above feedback reflect your experience with CCBC-NET? If yes, let us know. If not, let us know, as well. We want to hear from you at any time as to what you appreciate about CCBC-NET, your ideas for future CCBC-NET discussions, and your general suggestions for CCBC-NET. You are welcome to send your comments to me, or to my CCBC colleagues: Megan Schliesman (schlies at macc.wisc.edu) or Kathleen Horning (horning at mail.soemadison.wisc.edu). Of course, you may share them on CCBC-NET, at any time. Meanwhile, let's begin our January discussion of Protecting Marie by Kevin Henkes! ... Ginny
