I think Snowballs, by Lois Ehlert was discussed last month. Excellent book, great vivid illustrations. Though you all might be interested in how one child reacted to it.

I read it to my newly 7 year old Godson, Jeremy, last week. He liked it. So when we made cupcakes today, for his school birthday celebration, how do you suppose they had to be decorated? That's right, two white circles (three wouldn't fit!) with candy corn for the hat, Mini M&M's for the eyes, a Tic Tac for the nose, Pull and Peel Licorice for the mouth, and Chicklets for the buttons! I have to admit, it turned out very cute. He's taking the book with him for the celebration too.

That's the thing about real literature, it just connects with the real world.
