Every year I compile a list of my favorite picture books to use with a group of children, such as storytime or classroom use. Here are some 1995 titles that have been successful:

Bassett, Jeni. The Chick's Trick. Cobblehill. Carle, Eric. The Very Lonely Firefly. Philomel. McDonald, Megan. Insects are My Life. Orchard. Miller, Sara Swan. Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog. HM. Rathmann, Peggy. Officer Buckle and Gloria. Putnam. Rylant, Cynthia. Mr. Putter and Tabby Pick the Pears. HB. Wells, Rosemary. The "Edward the Unready" series. Dial
        - Edward in Deep Water
        - Edward's Overwhelming Overnight
        - Edward's Unready for School Wolff, Patricia Rae. The Toll-Bridge Troll. HB. Young, Ed. Donkey Trouble. Atheneum.

The younger kids (4-6) really reacted to Three Stories to Read to Your Dog while the 7 yr. olds enjoyed and asked for The Toll-Bridge Troll. I personally cozied up to Mr. Putter and Tabby Pick the Pears. Check out the other Mr. Putter books if you haven't already done so. I'm very interested to see postings of books that have worked for you in group settings.
