I also liked Fire on the Mountain and would like to add Navajo: Visions and Voices Across the Mesa. by Shonto Begay (Scholastic). This title is in our poetry section, is in picture book format, but is essentially an autobiographical piece very beautifully illustrated by the author. In the two page intro Begay tells us almost more than we can bear to know about his Indian childhood and the poems expand on those experiences. A book which crosses categories and defies pigeonholes.
