I understand that some of you have received strange non-messages on CCBC-NET recently. They came to me, too. We apologize for the inconvenience. And... Nina is wondering about your thoughts concerning her memory of reading Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry when she was young.
In November we'll begin discussing The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman (Clarion, 1995). This slim novel was published early last spring, so I hope it's in your public libraries, if not otherwise available to you. In December, get ready to talk about some of your favorite books of the year - and in January, we'll discuss Protecting Marie by Kevin Henkes (Greenwillow, 1995).
Sharon Creech's UW-Madison lecture on Sunday, Oct. 22, garnered more sustained applause than any other I can remember, a response to use the cliche
- well deserved. What a speech! What a writer! What a woman! I invite anyone who was there to talk a bit about the speech and describe the event for others. Ginny
