I am writing to remind all our CCBC-Net subscribers who live near Madison that Sharon Creech, the author of the 1995 Newbery Medal winner "Walk Two Moons" will give a public lecture in Madison on Sunday, Oct 22 at 1:30 pm in Tripp Commons, Memorial Union, 800 Langdon Street, Madison. This event is free and open to the public. Sharon's books, "Walk Two Moons" and "Absolutely Normal Chaos" will be available for sale and an autographing session will follow the lecture.

Those of you who have been long-time subscribers to CCBC-Net will remember the lively discussion we had of "Walk Two Moons" last July. During the last week of our discussion, Sharon Creech herself joined in and answered many of the questions people had to ask her about herself and her book. Those of you who have subscribed since then may want to visit the archives to read the comments that were made back in July. It's definitely worth the trip!

As a result of our cyberdiscussion, CCBC staff got to meet one of our local subscribers, Robin Gibson, in person. Robin greatly impressed us with her insightful comments about "Walk Two Moons" and last month she agreed to help us with a "Walk Two Moons" display here at the CCBC in honor of Sharon Creech's visit. If you live in the Madison area, be sure to check out the results of Robin's great work which will be up through the end of October in the display case just inside the CCBC's entrance-way. Thank you, Robin!

Also I want to inform "Walk Two Moons" readers that Sharon's latest book, "Absolutely Normal Chaos" is just out in an American edition from HarperCollins. This book was originally published a few years ago in England and was actually Sharon's first book for young readers. It'll be of special interest to "Walk Two Moons" fans because it has the same setting and some of the same characters as WTM. It takes place the summer before Sal moved to Ohio and features Mary Lou "Omnipotent!" Finney as its protagonist.
