The Friends of the CCBC will host a free public lecture by Sharon Creech on October 22, 1995, at 1:30 pm at Tripp Commons, Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St, Madison, Wisconsin. Following her lecture and an autographing session, there will be a reception in her honor for members of the Friends of the CCBC. (This group is open to anyone, so if you're not a member of the Friends and want to join, you can!)
Sharon Creech is the winner of the 1995 Newbery Medal for her book
"Walk Two Moons" (HarperCollins, 1994). "Absolutely Normal Chaos," her first children's book, was originally published in England a few years ago and it will be out in a U.S. edition in October 1995. Sharon joined our lively cyberdiscussion of "Walk Two Moons" on CCBC-Net back in July. Those of you who have subscribed since then may wish to take a trip to the archives to read the questions and comments about her work.
If you live in Madison (or within a reasonable distance!) we hope you'll take advantage of this rare opportunity to meet and hear Sharon Creech while she's in the United States briefly at the end of her "Newbery Year."
