Want to do some reading or re-reading between now and the end of August? Beginning September 1, we'll discuss two books by Walter Dean Myers: Scorpions and Fallen Angels. Each was published during 1988, and each received immediate professional acclaim. We'll discuss Scorpions first. If you are interested, later in September we can look at Somewhere in the Darkness, or other books by Walter Dean Myers. I will facilitate the September discussions.
1. Scorpions (HarperCollins, 1988; Harper Trophy pbk., 1990) This Newbery Honor Book is a 160-page contemporary novel set in a city in the U.S.A. 2. Fallen Angels (Scholastic, 1988; Scholastic pbk., 1989) Most of the action in this 336-page novel takes place in Vietnam during that war. Fallen Angels received the Coretta Scott King Award for Writing.
Enjoy your reading! ... Ginny Moore Kruse
