I am pleased to announce that during our last week of discussion of
"Walk Two Moons," the book's author Sharon Creech will be joining our discussion. Sharon has just linked up to CCBC-Net from her vacation home in New York state. She's enjoyed reading our comments about the book and will no doubt have some comments of her own to add, as well.

If any of you have any specific questions you'd like to ask Sharon about her work, please feel free to ask them on the listserv and Sharon will try to answer as time allows.

I'd like to begin by asking Sharon to write a little bit about how the book "Walk Two Moons" came to be. In your Newbery acceptance speech, you mentioned that you wrote two early drafts that did not include Salamanca or the Hiddles. It's hard to imagine the book without them! What was the story like at that point and how did Sal and the Hiddles come into being?
